On the 17th I'm moving into the graduate student residency on the Notre Dame campus. The location of the place is perfect; quick walking distance to the massive library (Touchdown Jesus building, for those unaware), the football stadium, and O'Shaughnessy Hall, which is where many of my classes will be held. Hard to complain about all that.
Still haven't made contact with the roommate which is making me a bit anxious, but via Facebook Stalking he seems like an alright guy, if a little conservative / religious, but we'll probably be just koshier as long as we don't talk politics, hah.
On the 23rd I have a Meet-N-Greet with the other incoming MFA'ers and however many of the faculty can get up in time for the 8am meeting. I have my advising session from 11:45am-Noon, and then enrollment directly after.
Classes start the 24th (yes, the day after we enroll; talk about anxiety-inducing).
I've met about half of the other incoming class members, and have met the current 2nd-years several times; everyone seems pretty fucking cool, no lie. The stereotypical, half-expected arrogance is fortunately (mostly) missing, and the exceptions are bearable, at least so far.
Until then I'm basically doing my usual -- reading, working, sleeping occasionally, writing bits here and there. My projects for today include washing all the silverware / dishware I've gotten, laundering all my new sheets / blankets / pillowcases / etc., and to start packing up my ~400 book library. Today I'm shooting for all of my graphic novels.
